Stranraer 1-2 Elgin: Match Report

19 March 2011 18:59
Blues' slump goes on Stranraer's slump in form continued as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Elgin. The Blues are now nine points from the summit of the Scottish Third Division after losing four of their past six matches. City took the lead after 21 minutes when Jamie Duff slotted home from six yards following neat approach play by Jake Inglis. The visitors continued to dominate proceedings and doubled their advantage after 64 minutes when David Gormley stabbed home from six yards after the home side failed to deal with a corner. Late pressure from Stranraer resulted in Paul Murphy pulling a goal back with four minutes to go when he headed home Scott Agnew's smart pass. But the game was marred by an unsavoury climax which saw Stranraer striker Craig Malcolm and City skipper Paul Kaczan sent off in injury time.
