Title boost for Alloa

Alloa increased their lead at the top of the Third Division to four points after they thumped second-placed Stranraer 4-0.

Mark Docherty began the rout as he fired the Wasps ahead with a low 18-yard drive in the 25th minute.

Stephen May then doubled the visitors' advantage with a delightful finish from 20 yards.

Alloa grabbed a third on the hour when Steven Masterton's speculative right-footed effort from 25 yards nestled in the top corner.

The scoring was completed when May notched his second with a powerful effort from 12 yards.

Michael Moore almost made it five when his audacious effort went just wide of the post after 76 minutes, but four was enough for the away side to secure an emphatic victory over their nearest title rivals.
