Stenny shock leaders

Struggling Stenhousemuir shocked League One leaders Stranraer with a 2-0 win at Stair Park.

The Warriors, second bottom of the table prior to kick-off, arrived in the Lowlands as huge outsiders to face a team unbeaten in 18 matches in all competitions since the end of August.

But they went ahead after 12 minutes when Tom Walsh beat goalkeeper David Mitchell with a low, left-foot shot from the right-hand side of the penalty area.

Chances would prove few and far between and it was not until just after the hour mark that Stenhousemuir goalkeeper Greg Fleming was worked, repelling a long-range effort from Craig Malcolm.

Colin McMenamin gave the visitors a two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute when he latched on to Walsh's through ball and scored.

Substitutes Adam Forde and Daniel Stoney threatened late on for Stranraer but it was much too little, too late from Stephen Aitken's men, although they remain top of the table.
