Upson Interesting The Chinese

Shanghai Shenhua are very interested in acquiring the services of Stoke defender Matthew Upson.

The Chinese club have already had one dabble in the Premiership when they took Nicolas Anelka from Chelsea in January, they are at it again with a couple of targets and Upson is said to be one of them.

Upson has found himself out in the wilderness at the Brit of late, he cannot hold down a first team place and a lot of fans question why he is here in the first place. Since his arrival from West Ham, he has made just five league starts and there was even speculation that Nigel Adkins was interested in taking him back down south to Southampton during the transfer window.

There has been confirmation from the Chinese outfit that talks are taking place, but he would not be drawn into letting on how far things have progressed.
