The scourge of modern football... the iPod! Stoke striker Dave Kitson blasts 'miserable' players

Dave Kitson has dished out a piece of advice to any manager wanting to build greater team spirit in their squad... ban iPods. The 30-year-old Stoke City striker has launched a scathing attack on the gadget, a must-have for most Premier League footballers, blaming them for making players insular and 'miserable'. Former Reading hotshot Kitson also insisted that the personal music players ruin team morale. Out of tune: Rio Ferdinand sports an iPod (left) but Dave Kitson (right) is not a fan Kitson said: 'I find iPods one of the most anti-social things to have come into the changing room. Changing rooms should be buzzing with anticipation and energy before a game. 'But more and more I see players slumped around in their own world, generally looking miserable.' He added: 'Music can be a great motivational tool, but it works far better if everyone listens to the same thing and talks to each other. 'I like to think music should be used to get you up for a game of football - not for relaxing you. Football is not relaxing.'  Liverpool and Stoke target Cole insists he's staying put at West Ham CLICK HERE FOR ALL THE WEEKEND PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM NEWSWest Ham primed to make move for Bolton's Taylor as Kovac rejects StokeSign up to our FREE Fantasy Football game - with £40,000 in prize money up for grabs
