    Stoke seal Parkin swoop

    21 Jun 2007 - 09:45:31

Stoke City have wrapped up the signing of Hull City striker Jon Parkin for an initial fee of £275,000.

The 25-year-old frontman has signed a three-year contract with the Potters, having impressed during a loan stint at the Britannia Stadium last season.

City chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website: "Jon is a player Tony Pulis has been chasing for some time.

"He did exceptionally well for us when he was here on loan and I am delighted to have him as the club's first signing of the summer."

Parkin himself added: "Obviously it's a difficult experience joining a new club, but my time here before made the decision a whole lot easier.

"If we get a few more players in and perhaps do a bit of business in the loan market as well, there's a great chance of us getting into the play-offs at the very least."

Parkin scored three times in six outings for Stoke last term, having fallen down the pecking order with Hull.

He had previously enjoyed spells with Macclesfield Town, York City and Barnsley.
