Stoke new-boy hoping for Wales recall

Danny Collins is hoping a fresh start for club will also lead to one for country. Collins surprisingly joined Stoke on Tuesday for £2.75million from Sunderland after suddenly finding himself surplus to requirements under boss Steve Bruce. That was despite captaining the side in their opening three games of this campaign, and after being named player of last season. But far from harbouring any ill feeling, Collins is eager to prove himself to Stoke manager Tony Pulis, and potentially to Wales boss John Toshack. It is two-and-a-half years since the 29-year-old won the last of his six caps after a fall-out with Toshack. Now looking to bury the hatchet, Collins said: "I've got one or two things to sort out with the manager. "But maybe it's only a phone call away. You want to be playing for your country, and so hopefully that can be sorted."
