Stoke confirm Reid role
Stoke City have confirmed the appointment of Peter Reid as their new assistant manager. Reid had been locked in talks with Thailand over his role as national team coach. He has, though, now agreed a termination of his contract with the Thai Football Association and has linked up with The Potters. "I've come to an agreement with the Thai FA," Reid told Stoke's official website. "They've been very helpful and I've got a great relationship with the chairman Worawi Makudi. Unworkable situation "I would like to go on record in thanking them for everything - being an international manager is great. "The pull of working with Tony Pulis and a club like Stoke City, in the Premier League, was just too great to turn down." Reid had wanted to carry on his role with Thailand, as well as taking up the job with Stoke, but that proved an unworkable situation. "Logistically it was just too difficult to stay on," he admitted. "But we shake hands and go on our separate ways. "I still have many friends over there, though, and will always look out for their results." Manager Tony Pulis added, "It's great to be able to add such experience to the coaching side of the football club."
