Soares welcomes Stoke return

Midfielder Tom Soares is determined to make a success of his time with Stoke City, having returned to the club from a loan spell with Charlton Athletic.

The 22-year-old has made just eight appearances for the Potters since his arrival from Crystal Palace last summer, but is adamant that he can force his way back into boss Tony Pulis' plans.

He told The Sentinel: "I want to be in this team and I feel I haven't shown my best yet here at Stoke.

"I want to prove to people that the reason I came to the club in the first place is because I'm a good player.

"It was always going to be difficult coming to a big club like Stoke, with the players they've got. Everyone is fighting for a position in the team.

"It's about whether you want it and are hungry enough to fight for your place. I feel I have what it takes to get in the team, but I know I have to fight to prove that in training and in the reserves.

"I'd love to get back in this season, because I want to be part of a Stoke City team staying in the Premier League.

"I think you do lose a bit of confidence when you're not playing. You just have to have confidence and faith in yourself."
