Signing delays frustrate Pulis

Stoke City Tony Pulis has admitted that he has been frustrated in his attempts to bring in a number of new players this summer.

Sunderland midfielder Dean Whitehead is the only man to have signed on the dotted line with the Potters, with Pulis still waiting on several other targets.

He told The Sentinel: "There's players we've been interested in for six or seven weeks and what their agents do is play the field and are not prepared to commit themselves.

"They tell their players that Real Madrid or Barcelona are after them, but then that dream fades away and they look at you again.

"But I don't blame them, the agent or the player, because it's the way of the world.

"There's a little bit of money to spend, but it's all about getting the best deals for this football club. We need a bit more experience in terms of the Premier League and also an injection of pace in certain areas.

"We need to bring a few in to shake it up and liven it up. I think the players are waiting and hoping we do that as well.

"The deals are there for those clubs who can afford to pay over the odds, but we are trying to do proper deals."
