Shawcross talk shocks Pulis
10 Jul 2009 - 09:13:58
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis cannot understand where the stories linking former Manchester United defender Ryan Shawcross with a move to Tottenham Hotspur have originated from.
The 21-year-old played a key role in keeping the Potters in the Premier League last term, to such an extent that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is reportedly getting ready to submit a bid for the defender.
However, Pulis told The Stoke Sentinel: "No one has rung me up. I get on well with Harry and I'd be very surprised if it's in the papers and he hasn't rung me first."
Pulis has also said that he will not be letting several of his fringe first-team players leave the Britannia Stadium this summer, adding: "Andy Griffin, and Dave Kitson are in the same situation as Michael Tonge, Leon Cort and Ibrahima Sonko.
"I brought all these players to the club so there are no problems with me. We used an enormous amount of players last year to get the points we needed and will have to do exactly the same this year.
"They'll play a part. It's important they get their heads down and just work hard. There are no doors closed."
