Shawcross not leaving Potters
19 Oct 2009 - 10:02:27
Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross insists he is happy at the Britannia Stadium and not looking to leave the Potters.
Shawcross, 22, was heavily linked with moves to Liverpool and Arsenal during the summer transfer window following an impressive first season in the Premier League.
However, the former Manchester United youngster has pledged his future to the Potters.
"I am very happy here," said Shawcross. "If I moved to a big club like Liverpool I might not play.
"So my aim is to stay at Stoke and we're talking about a new contract right now.
"I have two years left after this one and we are hoping to sort it out for longer."
Meanwhile, Shawcross has admitted it would be a dream to break into the England squad ahead of next summer's World Cup Finals.
"Of course it is a dream of mine to play for England, but I do not have sleepless nights thinking about it," he continued.
"I just concentrate on Stoke. If you start thinking you have to impress the England manager, then your game will go off."
