Shawcross learns his lesson
Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross is heading for a dream ending to the season after a start that was the stuff of nightmares. He was dropped by manager Tony Pulis following the opening day drubbing by Bolton at the Reebok Stadium. It was two long months before he won his place back in the league team but since then the 21-year-old former Manchester United starlet has gone from strength to strength. He is set to retain his place against Hull thanks to a change of attitude. Pulis said: "Ryan has improved. He was a little bit starry-eyed at the beginning of the season. We left him out and since coming back he has been outstanding. Now and then everyone needs a rest. "He is only a young kid, he has got to keep his feet on the ground and keep working hard. There is a lot more to come from him."
