Shawcross eyes Potters stay

On-loan defender Ryan Shawcross had admitted he would like to extend his stay at Stoke City until the end of the season.
Shawcross, who is on loan from Manchester United, has been an ever-present for the Potters since his move to the Brittania Stadium.
Now, with less then a month left on the defender's loan deal, both Shawcross and manager Tony Pulis are keen to extend his stay, with talks currently ongoing with the Premier League champions.
Pulis told the Sentinel: "We would clearly love to keep him if we can but the final decision is obviously up to Sir Alex (Ferguson) and we are in no position to rush him."
The 20-year-old defender, who has also bagged an impressive five goals this term, echoed Pulis' comments, saying: "The loan is up in January, so in the next couple of weeks I've got to sit down with the gaffer and Sir Alex, but I'd like to stay."
Shawcross is out of contract at United at the end of the season, a situation which will obviously affect Ferguson's decision as his side maintain their challenge in three competitions.
