Pulis waits on Sidibe verdict

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has confirmed that striker Mamady Sidibe will undergo exploratory surgery to ascertain the severity of his knee injury.

The 30-year-old Mali international seems likely to miss the rest of the season, with cruciate ligament damage the most likely problem.

Pulis told The Sentinel: "We won't know how long he's out until they've gone inside and performed the operation.

"We don't know exactly when he'll have the operation because the surgeons want to wait for the knee to settle down before they go in and have a look.

"Mama feels there is a weakness in the knee joint that's he obviously not happy with.

"He hasn't felt fully right in the games he's played since coming back from his last injury to the knee.

"That will trouble him because Mama is one of those who always wants to give you 100 per cent.

"I think everyone following us this season has seen the way Mama has stepped up to the challenge of the Premier League. He gives us something different and will be a big miss."
