    Pulis waits on injured trio

    14 Feb 2010 - 15:10:24

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis hopes Matthew Etherington has escaped serious injury after the former West Ham United winger had to be taken to hospital after the 1-1 FA Cup fifth round draw at Manchester City.

Etherington had to leave the pitch following an innocuous challenge early in the game and appeared to suffer a knee injury.

Pulis said after the draw: "There was nothing in the actual tackle. His studs got stuck in the ground.

"The doctor said it might be one where the ligament has just gone over the bone and Matthew might be OK on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

"I thought we performed really well and we'll give it our best shot in the replay."

Shaun Wright-Phillips had given City the lead after a defensive blunder by Ryan Shawcross before Ricardo Fuller headed beyond Shay Given to make it 1-1.

Etherington's replacement, Liam Lawrence, lasted a little over half-an-hour as he picked up a knee complaint of his own and defender Andy Wilkinson was also substituted soon after the interval with an ankle problem.
