Stoke City boss Tony Pulis hopes to sign a new striker this month to boost his side's promotion push.
The Potters are eighth in the Championship table following the disappointing 1-1 draw with Southend United at the Britannia Stadium, and Pulis fears a lack of goals could hinder his side's Premiership aspirations.
"We have someone in mind," he told The Sentinel.
"I think the player would like to come. But it's got to be all right for his club first.
"He's got good pace and a good goalscoring record. We can control games for long periods, but we're just missing that cutting edge sometimes."
