Pulis stands up for Potters
01 Aug 2008 - 11:36:05
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has defended his club over their conduct during their attempt to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop.
Black Cats boss Roy Keane was disgusted at the treatment of the Hungary international, saying: "Stoke wasted his time. They took him down there and made him an offer. Marton asked for a bit more but they weren't far away.
"When you meet for negotiations, you negotiate. It's a disgrace, they've totally disrespected him."
However, Pulis responded by telling The Sentinel: "The deal fell through simply because we couldn't come to an agreement with his agent on personal terms.
"These things happen in football. I cannot speak for Roy and what he does. All I will say is that I have total respect for everybody and everything at Sunderland Football Club.
"He's got to say what he's got to say, but, at the end of the day, we obviously have to make decisions on players that are in the best interests of this football club."
