Pulis rues referee treatment
29 Dec 2009 - 07:43:08
Tony Pulis claimed Stoke City continue to be on the wrong end of a string of refereeing mistakes following Monday's 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City.
The Potters were denied a second-half penalty when defender Robert Huthappeared to be brought down by Stephen Carr and afterwards Pulis hit out at the rough justice meted out to his struggling side this season.
"We get Robert Huth rugby tackled and it was a stone-banker penalty," he lamented.
"We just ask for fair play and we haven't had it and it's very disappointing.
"It'll be interesting to see if we get a phone call for this one saying he got it wrong."
He added: "We've a problem here. There's a preconceived idea that the crowd is so fanatical, and so much behind the team.
"They (the referees) almost come in with a point to prove, that they won't be swayed by the crowd.
"It's not the first time it's happened at this football club where we haven't got what we deserved.
"I think referees are coming here to prove they are strong enough not to react to the crowd."
