Pulis reveals Potters blast
07 Dec 2008 - 11:36:55
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis admitted he was forced to issue a half-time dressing down of his players before their second-half fightback to draw 2-2 with Newcastle United.
The Potters' poor form on the road this season looked like continuing when they slipped 2-0 behind to a Michael Owen brace at St James' Park.
But second-half strikes from Mamady Sidibe and Adboulaye Faye earned Pulis' side only their third away point of the season.
"I was desperately disappointed in our defending in the first 20 minutes. We were insipid and I thought the back four were poor," admitted Pulis.
"The rest of the team worked very, very hard as a group, but were let down by the back four.
"For the first time this season, I really, really got stuck into a few people at half-time.
"We shook it around a little bit and the response was absolutely fantastic and we are desperately disappointed we have not won the game to be honest."
