Pulis pleads for patience

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis insists he is close to adding several new faces to his wafer-thin squad.

The Potters have only signed Hull City striker Jon Parkin so far this summer, and Pulis admits it has been a frustrating close season so far.

"We're looking for players in every area of the pitch, from front to back," he told the club's official website.

"We know exactly what we want and who we want and know we have to hope that one or two things drop for us.

"It's like a food chain to be honest with you, and unfortunately we aren't at the top of it at the moment.

"We can't do what the likes of Wolves and Charlton are doing and splash the cash, so we've got to be patient.

"We're working extremely hard and we have got to make sure we stick to what our budget is.

"There are things going on behind the scenes and we know that we will win some and lose some."
