Pulis plays down Scholes talk

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has dismissed speculation linking him with an approach for Manchester United stalwart Paul Scholes.

The 34-year-old England international has been linked with a shock exit from Old Trafford this summer, but Pulis insists that links with the Potters are some way wide of the mark.

He told The Sentinel: "He's a player of genuine quality, one most managers would give their right arm for.

"But I have absolutely no idea where the story came from.

"I have far too much respect for United's manager to speak to anyone other than Sir Alex Ferguson himself about any Manchester United player."

Scholes, who won 65 caps for England earlier in his career, has played more than 600 times for the Old Trafford club, helping them to a vast number of trophies.
