Pulis okay with Tuncay strop
16 Mar 2010 - 10:03:35
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has drawn a line under the new controversy surrounding Tuncay's angry reaction to being substituted in the goalless draw with Aston Villa.
The Turkey forward walked straight down the tunnel after being replaced early on in the second half of the Britannia Stadium stalemate, but Pulis is content that Tuncay was just disappointed at being withdrawn.
He told The Sentinel: "Tuncay is a great lad and he's disappointed he's come off. We all react differently and we have to accept that.
"He's been a smashing pro since he's been here, but he doesn't like coming off and that's fine because there's a lot of players like that.
"I don't have to justify it in any shape or form. I don't do it because it's personal, it's all about the team for me and that's always been my philosophy.
"I've always been like that. As a young manager, I didn't worry if I brought off a senior player or a so-called name player if I thought it was the right thing to do.
"I know people are disappointed when Tuncay comes off, but I do what's best for the team."
