Pulis happy with Kitson display
24 Mar 2010 - 09:56:43
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has urged striker Dave Kitson to build on an impressive display in the 2-1 weekend loss at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 30-year-old former Reading frontman has struggled to make his mark since a £5.5million move in the summer of 2008 and had not started a game for the Potters since late October.
However, Pulis was pleased with Kitson's efforts in defeat and wants to see more of the same in the future.
He told The Sentinel: "I don't know whether or not it was his best game on Saturday, but he played really well and that's the Dave Kitson we all want to see.
"I've got to say his attitude has been brilliant for someone who's been out of the frame.
"We've got eight games left and he now has a great opportunity in the next couple of months to really stake a claim for being back on track.
"The door has never been closed to Dave as far as I'm concerned and bringing him back on Saturday showed that.
"We want him to concentrate on working hard for the team and then hopefully the goals will come for him.
"The problem has not been his ability, but what's been happening behind the scenes in his mind and whether he's had a clear objective in front of him."
