    Pulis hails brilliant Potters

    25 Feb 2010 - 12:41:51

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis believes his side's character shone through in Wednesday's FA Cup fifth-round replay victory against Manchester City.

The Potters face Chelsea in the quarter-finals after their 3-1 extra-time success against Roberto Mancini's side.

Pulis said: "It was a magnificent performance and I'm delighted for the lads because they've shown great character once again.

"We've played City three times in two weeks, a club with unbelievable resources and great depth in quality, and have managed to come out on top.

"I thought we were unlucky not to get more out of the first two games, so I'm really, really pleased that we've got a win that we thoroughly deserved on this occasion.

"We had four players out this evening, which left us a bit thin on the ground for options, but the ones who came in did brilliantly for us.

"I thought Thomas Sorensen kept us in the game in the first half with two splendid saves and he also pulled off another important save in extra-time to prevent it from becoming a little nerve-racking at the end.

"It helps when you go into extra-time playing against ten men and I felt that if we could get the ball to certain people in certain areas, Fuller, Tuncay and Kitson in particular, then we could cause them problems which is what we succeeded in doing."
