Pulis eyes Diao swoop

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis still hopes to sign former Liverpool midfielder Salif Diao on a permanent basis.

The 30-year-old Senegal international played 29 games for the Potters last season and is now a free agent following his release by Liverpool.

Pulis told The Sentinel: "We are still hoping to speak to Salif, but there are a lot of things on his mind and it will only be up to him.

"I think he was the best player of his type in the league last season.

"At the moment, we are getting on with what we have got, but if he decides to come it would be a massive bonus."
