Pulis denies Cole snub

Stoke boss Tony Pulis is looking to make "three or four" more additions to his squad - but has denied he has had a bid turned down for England striker Carlton Cole.

There has been little in the way of transfer activity at the Britannia Stadium so far this summer, with Belgian teenager Florent Cuvelier and experienced goalkeeper Carlo Nash the only incoming personnel.

Asked if there was any truth in reports that West Ham had rejected an offer from the Potters for Cole, Pulis said "none whatsoever", but the manager did confirm he is hoping to bolster his squad with several new faces.

"We are not just after a striker, but three or four players if we can," he told the Stoke Sentinel.

"We have money to spend, but it's got to be the right players at the right prices."

Pulis was speaking after Stoke's 2-1 victory over Burnley in a pre-season friendly, which did not feature front pair James Beattie and Dave Kitson, both of whom have been linked with moves away from the club.

West Brom are the latest club believed to be interested in Beattie, but Pulis stressed that the former Everton striker and Kitson remained very much a part of his squad.

"Beattie trained with the other players who never came, because I wanted to give Mama Sidibe, Ricardo Fuller and Tuncay time in the middle," Pulis said.

"James would have just sat it out, so he had a training session back at the ground instead and I'm told he worked his socks off.

"Beattie and Kitson are both Stoke City players. At the moment they are working hard to keep fit and if we need them, we need them."
