Pulis denies Beattie approach
20 Jan 2010 - 10:11:08
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has revealed that he has not been contacted by Wolves even though Mick McCarthy's team have been linked with striker James Beattie.
Wolves were believed to be readying a £3million bid for the 31-year-old former Southampton, Everton and Sheffield United forward who has spent the last 12 months at the Britannia Stadium.
Last month Beattie and Pulis were involved in an alleged heated argument after Stoke's defeat at Arsenal, fuelling speculation that the striker would be leaving the club this month.
However, Molineux does not appear to be his destination, with Pulis telling the Sentinel: "I'd expect Mick McCarthy to ring me if they were interested and he hasn't.
"(Wolves chief executive) Jez Moxey also has good contacts here at Stoke and I'm not aware of anything happening with him.
"I think people are going to throw names into the hat all of the time at this time of year because of the January transfer window."
Former England international Beattie has scored ten goals in 36 first-team appearances for Stoke, but has only started one Premier League game since mid-November.
