Pulis delighted with Tuncay stay

Stoke City's Turkey international striker Tuncay has been told by manager Tony Pulis that he still has a major role to play at the Britannia Stadium.

The 28-year-old struggled during his first season with City and was heavily linked with a summer move away from the Potteries, but Pulis is happy that the former Middlesbrough man eventually stayed put.

He told the club's official website: "We're delighted that Tunny didn't go anywhere in the transfer window, absolutely delighted because he has an important part to play here.

"He's needed a year to settle in, but I believe we will now see the best of him because he has certainly got it in his locker to step up another gear.

"Having been here for 12 months, he now knows what is needed and I hope he can rise to that challenge and make a really big impact.

"We've given ourselves more attacking options in the squad, which was certainly needed, but that doesn't mean we are closing the door on anyone."
