Pulis blasts Fuller treatment
02 Nov 2009 - 13:42:53
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has called for better protection of his players, following a physical 2-2 derby draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pulis was desperately unhappy with the treatment dished out to striker Ricardo Fuller and felt that referee Chris Foy should have taken stronger action.
He told The Sentinel: "The first two challenges on Ric were absolutely shocking. We are being told all the time that referees are going to look after skilful players.
"You have a look at the back of Ric's Achilles and the top of his knee. I don't think we get decisions other clubs do.
"He got kicked on the knee and got a cut on the back of his calf, so he struggled for the rest of the game.
"He's got a stud mark right below the knee. If that had been us playing away from home, we'd have been punished for that.
"You don't want to see players booked, but those first two tackles on Ricardo, if they aren't bookings then there isn't going to be any bookings in a game."
