Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has swooped to sign Manchester United teenager Ryan Shawcross on a six-month loan deal.
The 19-year-old defender has made two substitute appearances for United's first team - in last term's Carling Cup games against Crewe Alexandra and Southend United.
He also spent the second half of last season on loan at Belgian side Royal Antwerp.
Meanwhile, former Leeds United, Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers defender Dominic Matteo has penned a new 12-month contract with the Potters.
