Pulis backs Fuller to shine
23 Jan 2009 - 14:30:02
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis is confident Ricardo Fuller can resurrect his career at the Britannia Stadium.
There were fears that the Jamaica international, who is the Potters' top-scorer so far this season, had played his last game for the club after an on-field altercation with captain Andy Griffin.
Fuller appeared to slap Griffin in last month's defeat at West Ham United and has been suspended for the last three matches.
Pulis said: "I can't speak for Ric, but he certainly gives the impression he's raring to go. I'm sure he's desperately keen to get back into the team, to do well for the club, the fans and for the rest of the lads.
"I'm sure he's got over everything that's happened and he's certainly looked as bright as a button whenever he's put his foot down in training.
"The only concern is that he's gone so long without playing, but I'm sure he'll pick up the pace pretty quickly."
Meanwhile, Lewis Buxton is on the verge of sealing a £500,000 switch to Sheffield Wednesday.
