Pulis backs Fuller to return

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis is confident Ricardo Fuller will be fit enough for the start of the Premier League campaign in less than five weeks' time.

The Jamaica international is currently recovering from the knee operation he endured last month and has been ruled out of the Potters' opening pre-season friendlies.

But an optimistic Pulis told the Potters' official website: "Ric's fine. He's doing loads of cycling and swimming and working in the weight room. That's what we'll do in the next two or three weeks.

"I'm hoping, at the back end of pre-season, he'll be able to play some part in some games and then be available for Bolton.

"It could have been more serious, and we're pleased it's just a minor injury. He's an important player for us."
