Pulis accepts media frenzy
27 Jan 2009 - 07:31:22
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has admitted that it is difficult trying to do transfer business with any degree of confidentiality amid the modern media frenzy.
The Potters boss is hoping to make further signings this month to try and help his side escape the threat of relegation, but accepts that times have changed from when managers could keep things quiet.
Pulis said: "The players find out these days, whether interest in them is spread all over the newspapers and on the television or not.
"There are too many people involved in transfers these days to keep secrets. Agents and other people get informed and the player himself soon finds out about it.
"It was nice when deals were done manager to manager, but unfortunately that's gone out of the window. It gets back to the players whatever happens."
Pulis has already added Sheffield United striker James Beattie and West Ham United winger Matthew Etherington to his squad this month.
