Pulis: Spurs must back Ramos
20 Oct 2008 - 07:33:56
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has urged the board of Tottenham Hotspur to stand by Juande Ramos, despite the Potters having inflicted a 2-1 defeat on the struggling Londoners.
Goals from Danny Higginbotham and Rory Delap gave City a crucial victory at the Britannia Stadium, with Pulis having sympathy for his under-fire Spurs counterpart.
He said: "Let's see a bit of character by their board of directors and see them back him.
"We are all in the same boat and know the rules and have to accept it. I just hope the chairman who got rid of a very popular manager before now backs him and gives him a chance to turn it around.
"They certainly have good enough players and a good depth of squad."
Meanwhile, Pulis has urged his side to build on their victory on Sunday and continue to impress in front of their own fans.
He told the club's official website: "That was a massive win for us because it is important to have a good home record in this division.
"If we are going to stay up this year, I think it is imperative that we win as many games at home as possible.
"Today was huge for us and hopefully we can now push on from this."
