Pulis 'desperate' for 40 points

Stoke boss Tony Pulis admits he is 'desperate' to get to the 40-point mark to secure the club's safety in the Premier League. The Potters go into this weekend's game with relegation-threatened Hull City eight points clear of the drop zone with only three games remaining. Pulis is keen to get Stoke over the confirmed safety line so that he can plan ahead for next season. "We are despertate to get to the 40 points," Pulis told Sky Sports News. "I think if we get to 40 points it has been a remarkable season, I really do mean that. "We have been written off left right and centre from day one so to get over 40 points would be fantastic for us." Although survival would represent a massive success for Stoke in their first season in the Premier League, Pulis is refusing to rest on his laurels. "If and when we get the 40 points then we have got plans in place to push on and improve the football club," added Pulis. "I think the most important thing is you learn and we have had this year's experience. "There are certain things we have done well, certain things we haven't done so well and we have to improve and we have to make sure people around the place realise it has been a great season. "But if you stand still, especially at this level, there is every chance you can fall back and we can't do that, we cannot afford to do that."
