Potters to land Cresswell
02 Aug 2007 - 11:18:52
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis hopes to tie up the signing of Leeds United striker Richard Cresswell before next week's opening Championship fixtures.
The 29-year-old's proposed switch to Hull City collapsed on Wednesday and Pulis hopes to take full advantage by adding Cresswell to his attacking options.
Speaking after his side's pre-season friendly against Aston Villa, Pulis said: "Richard is a fantastic player, and we're delighted he'll be joining us.
"I wasn't aware of his availability until I got a call the other day, and I must say I'm absolutely delighted to be signing him.
"There have been a number of clubs after him, including Preston, Hull and Sheffield Wednesday and I'm very happy he wants to sign for us.
"I think he's a top player, a very hard worker and he has great finishing ability too, so he'll be a very good signing for this club."
