Potters swoop for Lawrence

Sunderland winger Liam Lawrence has moved to Stoke City on loan until the New Year.

The 24-year-old joins the Potters with a view to a permanent move, with Lawrence being a direct replacement for Luke Chadwick, who has left Stoke to link up with Norwich City.

Lawrence joined the Black Cats in the summer of 2004 for £175,000 from Mansfield Town and was a key member of the side that powered to the Championship title in the 2004-05 campaign.

However, he has fallen out of favour under new boss Roy Keane and has failed to score in 13 appearances this term.

Overall, Lawrence has scored ten goals in 80 first-team outings for Sunderland.
