Potters still investigating spat

19 Mar 2010 - 10:08:28

James Beattie could still have a future at Stoke City despite dropping out of the first-team picture since his spat with boss Tony Pulis in December.

The 32-year-old striker has failed to start a game since the FA Cup third round victory against York City at the beginning of January and is being widely tipped for a Britannia Stadium exit in the summer.

The Potters have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into the bust-up that occurred after the 2-0 Premier League defeat at Arsenal while recent reports have suggested that Beattie has submitted an official complaint as he seeks an apology from Pulis.

Chairman Peter Coates has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, telling The Guardian: "It hasn't been concluded. It's still in process. I haven't been closely involved but we have set up the right procedure and done it by the book.

"We're dealing with it in what we feel is the right and proper manner. It disappoints me that it's been leaked.

"James is our player. He's got to get on and play for us and that's what he's paid for. I expect him to play for us. I hope he's got a long way to go in his career."
