Potters return for Griffin
11 Jan 2008 - 11:48:41
Stoke City have agreed a £300,000 transfer fee with Derby County to bring Andy Griffin back to the Britannia Stadium.
The 28-year-old started his career with the Potters before moving to Newcastle United a decade ago.
However, in over six seasons on Tyneside, Griffin started only 76 Premier League matches and moved to Portsmouth in the summer of 2004.
Griffin spent the 2006-07 campaign on loan with Stoke before moving to Pride Park on a permanent basis last summer.
He made 15 appearances for the Rams this term before agreeing to embark on a third spell with City.
Potters chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website: "We're delighted to have come to an agreement to bring Andy back to the club.
"He was here last season and performed exceptionally well for us and manager Tony Pulis has been keen to sign him for some time."
