Potters quiet over bust-up
07 Dec 2009 - 12:43:52
Stoke City are remaining tight-lipped over reports that manager Tony Pulis and striker James Beattie were involved in an altercation following Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Arsenal.
Newspaper reports claimed that Pulis and Beattie came to blows in the dressing room at the Emirates Stadium after the Potters boss cancelled a planned day off for the players on Monday.
The first-team squad was given permission to stay over in London on Saturday night as part of their Christmas celebrations.
The reports also claimed that the players were given Monday off by Pulis, only for the manager to change his mind following the performance in north London.
Stoke have refused to comment on the allegations but are believed to be holding an internal investigation into what went on at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Beattie's future at the Britannia Stadium has been thrown into doubt following further reports that he did no attend training on Monday.
The 31-year-old striker joined the Potters in a £3.5million deal from Sheffield United last season, but has struggled to hold down a starting place this season due to fitness problems.
