Stoke City manager Tony Pulis is to investigate the possibility of signing loan star Lee Hendrie on a permanent basis.

The former England midfielder has been back to his best since moving to the Britannia Stadium from Aston Villa late last month, scoring three times in five appearances.

Hendrie's value to the Potters was demonstrated as he masterminded a 5-0 victory against Norwich City at the weekend, and Pulis is desperate to hang on to him.

He said: "He's a smashing kid and I'd love to have him. We all know about his ability but his attitude and application have been absolutely brilliant.

"We don't know what his future holds long-term and we'll have to wait and see."
