    Potters play down Fuller spat

    30 Dec 2008 - 11:38:28

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates does not believe Ricardo Fuller's clash with captain Andy Griffin will lead to dressing room unrest at the Britannia Stadium.

Potters manager Tony Pulis has already pledged to deal with the Jamaica striker in-house after he was red-carded for striking his own captain during Sunday's 2-1 defeat at West Ham United.

Fuller is already facing a three-match Football Association ban, but could be hit with a further fine and suspension by the Premier League strugglers.

"I will talk to the manager when he gets back but it is an internal matter," Coates told The Sentinel.

"He (Fuller) is a very important player for Stoke and will be important for the second half of the season but it is our affair and we will deal with it in our own way.

"We can recover from this. The team spirit at Stoke is good and will remain good.

"I am disappointed that it happened. It influenced the game and we could have got something out of the game.

"People have to learn to control themselves."
