Potters Open Pre-Season With A Victory

City beat Austrians Stoke opened up their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 victory over Austrian non-leaguers FC Thal. City boss Tony Pulis fielded two completely different sides during the game in an encounter billed as nothing more than a 'glorified training session'. City were level at the break but second half goals from Jon Walters, Michaek Tonge and a first ever Stoke goal for defender Andy Wilkinson saw them through to victory. 1st half XI: Begovic, Delap, Shawcross, Collins, Pugh, Pennant, Cuvelier, Diao, Pugh, Lund, Jones 2nd half XI: Nash, Wilkinson, Shotton, Wilson, Dickinson, Soares, Arismendi, Whitehead, Etherington, Tonge, Walters The Potters will now return to the Potteries ahead of tomorrows Europa League draw and weekend friendlies against Newport County and Newport YMCA.
