Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has signed Derby County midfielder Stephen Pearson on loan until the end of the season.
Confirmation of the transfer was not received until Friday, even though the paperwork for the deal was sent to the Football Association and Football League before Thursday's 5pm deadline.
Chief executive Tony Scholes told the Potters' official website: "I'm delighted to confirm that the temporary signing of Stephen has been completed.
"He and Shola Ameobi will both be here with us until the end of the season to help us in the final push."
Pearson has made 40 first-team appearances for the Rams since moving to Pride Park from Celtic in a £750,000 deal almost 15 months ago.
