Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is being linked with both Ipswich Town striker Jon Walters and Portsmouth's David Nugent.
However, Town's chief executive Derek Bowden insists the Potters have not made a bid for Walters who was one of the outstanding players in the Championship last term.
The 24-year-old forward has been linked with a £2million switch to the Britannia Stadium after being named as Town's Player of the Year last season.
Wigan Athletic and West Brom have also been linked with Walters, who has scored 17 goals in 57 appearances for Town since moving to Portman Road from Chester City 18 months ago.
Meanwhile, the Potters could spend £3million on former Preston striker Nugent who has struggled since moving to Portsmouth last summer.
Hull City are also being linked with the 23-year-old who started only eight games for Pompey last term.
Meanwhile, the Potters reportedly still want to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson on loan for the season and Tottenham defender Anthony Gardner on a permanent basis.
