Potters make late triple swoop

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis signed four players on a busy transfer deadline day for the Potters.

Heading the list is Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen who spent the second half of last season on loan at Tottenham from Monaco.

Pulis also snapped up Marc Wilson from Portsmouth and former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant on loan from Real Zaragoza until January.

Earlier in the day, experienced midfielder Salif Diao returned to the Britannia Stadium on a two-year contract.

Stoke, despite losing all three of their Premier League fixtures so far this season, have spent big this summer, having already acquired Kenwyne Jones from Sunderland for £8million and Ipswich Town's Jon Walters in a £2.75million deal.

Meanwhile, Liam Lawrence and David Kitson have moved to Portsmouth as part of the deal that saw Wilson arrive at the Britannia Stadium.
