Potters launch Griffin appeal
20 Mar 2007 - 12:05:20
Stoke City have lodged an appeal against Andy Griffin's red card in the 1-0 defeat at Norwich City.
Griffin was sent off for serious foul play after clashing with Canaries midfielder Youssef Safri.
Potters boss Tony Pulis was furious with the decision to send his player off, saying after the game: "We'll be appealing because we think Andy played the ball.
"But the really disappointing thing is the fact Safri stayed down as if he was dead. It's a con really because he's sprinting across the pitch a couple of minutes later.
"They're supposed to be players in the same union, but when he's allowed back on the pitch he's sprinting across to take a free-kick.
"That's how bad a challenge it was and that's how badly injured he was."
