Potters display pleases Pulis
14 Mar 2010 - 15:29:59
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis was pleased with his side's spirited display in a goalless draw with Aston Villa at the Britannia Stadium.
The Potters were playing their third game in six days and showed up well against one of the teams challenging for a top-four finish.
Pulis said: "I think in the last 35 minutes we took the game to them, but it's been a tough week for us with three games.
"We've had a midweek game away from home then playing here against one of the best sides in the league.
"It was always a big ask for the players and towards the end of the game we looked like the team that might nick it.
"The fitness levels at the club are amazing and we have lads who will keep at it and keep having a go."
Meanwhile, Pulis has confirmed that striker James Beattie is unlikely to play again this season after undergoing knee surgery.
The 32-year-old, who is expected to leave the club in the summer following a bust-up with Pulis earlier on this season, is out for at least six weeks and probably longer.
"James has just had an operation to have a knee meniscus cleared up," Pulis confirmed. "He'll be six weeks out. We've got two months left, so it's all about his rehab now."
