Pericard setback for Potters
14 Sep 2006 - 11:05:52
Stoke City striker Vincent Pericard has been ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Potters from Portsmouth on a free transfer during the summer, picked up the injury nine minutes into Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
The impact of Pericard's absence will be softened by Martin Paterson's good display and goal against the Owls and the fact that new boy Ricardo Fuller is ready for action.
Boss Tony Pulis told the club's official website: "It could be two or three weeks out, we'll have to see because you never know with hamstring injuries.
"But I'm as pleased as punch for Patto. He took his chance (against Sheffield Wednesday) with aplomb and worked his socks off.
"We're also hoping Ricardo will be fit for Burnley so that may give us something different."
